January 2015 Leeds Castle Conference
Early in January (6th) on a crisp winters morning 17 staff from R & B Star (senior managers and Directors) met in the idyllic surroundings of Leeds Castle for the companies annual conference. This year the conference was hosted in the Maidens tower which added a different dimension to the event. The Maidens tower being on the castle island itself and provided a very comfortable venue for the days events.
The Directors updated the department managers with the companies progress in 2014 (15% growth) , the board also gave presentations about some exciting expansion plans for 2015 as well as unveiling a £40,000 training and development program (assisted by the Growth Accelerator scheme) for our staff.
The day also included an introduction to some changes with our purchasing negotiations whereby our portfolio of suppliers is being categorized and split into three areas of responsibility (Mark, Paul and Glenn).
There were several opportunities for open discussions to be had on what we as a company do well and need to improve on and it was very encouraging to get such a good level of feedback from everyone who came along. Bill Robertson attended as a special guest and joined in on the discussions giving examples from when the firm was founded in 1960. He was excited to see where the company plans to go over the next twelve months.
As well as a hearty working lunch the managers and Directors partook in a number of team building events / challenges. Some of which were filmed and will be available on our upcoming YouTube channel later in the year.
