February 2014 Strategy Conference

To start the year off we gathered all of our management team together in the idyllic setting of Leeds Castle. This was our third Leeds Castle strategy conference where we bring together our managers to present to them our financial performance over the last year and discuss what we want them to concentrate on in the coming years. When company’s meet in management meetings it is so often you hear of “communication” problems and messages not passing up and down the chain. Even as a relatively small wholesaler as we grow and become more successful we need to ensure that we are all going in the same direction. This conference also saw the founder Bill Robertson taking part and meeting some of the ‘stars of the future’. As well as discussion on strategy and financial performance we also included a number of team building activities and pitched the middle management team against the board of Directors for one task. After lunch was an opportunity for four of our suppliers to present new products to us (we were joined by our on the road sales rep team for this part of the day). Havells Sylvania , BG, Vent-axia and Light Sense all provided very interesting presentations.
